Yesterday, July 12, Pastor Jordan started our short summer preaching series, entitled "Gospel Matters." These next three weeks we'll be clarifying, applying, and adoring the Gospel - the good news of Jesus Christ. Jordan recommended What is the Gospel by Greg Gilbert as a fantastic starting place for a fresh, deeper look at what the Gospel IS, and what the Gospel DOES to us when we believe it. Listen to Gilbert:
“The difference between an unconverted and a converted man is not that the one has sins and the other has none; but that the one takes part with his cherished sins against a dreaded God, and the other takes part with a reconciled God against his hated sins" (3).
The Gospel is radically rooted in the death and resurrection of Jesus, and it causes us to desire repentance and a life lived for God's glory. Please pick up a copy of this book and read along as we prepare for Sunday mornings, and a fresh dive into the greatness of the Gospel!
Also, check out an earlier recommendation we made of another of Greg Gilbert's books. This one is still very much worth your time!
