Preparing for Sunday, 6/28/15!

by Josh Starkey on June 27, 2015

There are 2 significant things about tomorrow that you should prepare for. First, Tim Howard will continue our summer "Engaging Grace" series, teaching on Biblical counseling, and why our church is passionate about this avenue of ministry. Tim and Sue lead this counseling ministry at Grace, and Tim's looking forward to kicking off the series with this topic tomorrow.

Talking with Tim this week about his counseling philosophy, one thing really stood out to me. The fact is, Biblical counseling is something that can be done formally in scheduled sessions, but is really the responsibility and privilege of the whole body of Christ as we bear each other's burdens and apply God's Word in transformative ways as we all as Christians seek to be more like Christ. We're all called to counsel one another with God's Word. Tim just leads a more intensive, focused beam of this common ministry we share in Christ's church.

As we prepare to meet tomorrow, think about ways God's Word has counseled you, and transformed you with the Gospel. And think about ways you may be called by God now to help others by bring God's word and the Gospel to bear in their lives.

The second thing to be mindful of for tomorrow is that it's a communion Sunday. Let's prepare our hearts to draw near again to God, through Jesus our mediator.

Songs we'll sing tomorrow include,

1. How Great is Our God

2. There is a Fountain

3. The Victory

4. Leaning on the Everlasting Arms

5. In Christ Alone
