Preparing for Sunday, 6/26/16

by Josh Starkey on June 24, 2016

Hey folks,

Here's what's going on this Sunday, along with some resources to prepare for our worship gathering. Jordan will finish one more section in our Luke series, before we launch into the rest of our summer preaching series. This Sunday we'll be in Luke 14:15-33, and talking about the realities and cost of being a true disciple of Jesus.

This is also a communion Sunday, so make sure you're with us this week. Very appropriate that we're in Luke once more for the summer, and have the chance to also observe communion this same week. Here's a quote by Rick Holland about the crucial importance of practicing communion in a local church family:

"In the press of life, we're in a fight against forgetfulness. The most devastating and damaging thing to forget is the meaning of it all, and that's Jesus Himself and the death with which He served God and man. How often do you stop and think about the death of Jesus for your sin? How long can you go without meditating on the cross? God understands we forget. That's why He put Communion in our path."

Along with communion, we'll sing the following songs as a church:

  1. Holy Holy Holy (God With Us) - Matt Maher arrangement
  2. Amazing Grace - our own arragement
  3. It Is Well - Brandon Heath arrangement
  4. You Alone Can Rescue - Matt Redman

See you Sunday morning! Don't forget, we have one service through the summer, at 9:30am.
