Prepare Him Room

by Josh Starkey on December 11, 2022

“Prepare Him Room” puts all of our Christmas worship in context. It borrows that line from another beloved carol, “Joy to the World,” and takes the imagery of preparing room for Christ in the stable and applies it to our hearts, as we freshly adore and also wait for our coming King.

Jesus was Israel’s longed-for Messiah. Born to die, to open the “new and living way” (Hebrews 10:20) through the curtain, into the holy presence of God. To restore us as God’s children, by paying for our sin with his own life. And now “He’s risen and He reigns,” our successful, victorious Savior.

Christmas is about more than the manger and the nativity scene; it’s about God moving heaven and earth to make final, cosmic defeat over death, sin, and Satan. And defeat over every foothold that sin and the Enemy have in our hearts. God is a restoring, loving, longsuffering, gracious, merciful God. And he sent his Son, Jesus, to accomplish full rescue of each of us from sin. Prepare Him room in your life…give Him Lordship, and tell the world what He’s done and that He’s coming again.

Merry Christmas! All of our Advent songs can be found on our Spotify playlist (link in bio) https://linktr.ee/Gracesimi
