Set Your Minds... (11/27)

by Marshall Walter on November 27, 2013

Leadership and Family Vacations - C.J. Mahaney (Sovereign Grace Ministries): "Here’s what I’ve learned. The difference between forgettable vacations and unforgettable vacations is not the location or attractions. Nope. The difference between forgettable and unforgettable vacations is the father’s attitude and leadership. This makes all the difference."

Modesty Mini-Series - Tim Challies (Grace Fellowship Church): Tim Challies does an excellent job of breaking down some of the spiritual issues in how we dress and clothe ourselves.  Follow these links to get caught up!

Impromptu Gospel Presentation - Steve Lawson (Christ Fellowship Baptist Church): An excellent and theologically full gospel presentation made by Steve Lawson reminding us just how great a salvation we have through the person of Jesus Christ.

The Contagious Chain of Missionary Zeal - Nathan Busenitz (The Master's Seminary): "Even just one life burning brightly for the gospel can ignite the hearts of hundreds of others for generations to come."

An Alternative Script for Same-Sex Attraction - Nick Roen (Desiring God): "“There is nothing wrong with living a gay lifestyle. In fact, if you repress who you are, you will never live a happy, fulfilled life. Be true to yourself!”  This is the overwhelming message of society regarding homosexuality."

Can you see now how freeing this verse is? You no longer have to be afraid of people finding out about your sin. You have no need to hide. In fact, as counter-intuitive as it feels when you’re cowering in the dark, worrying about embarrassing yourself and Christianity should your sinfulness become known, it’s only when you're open about your sin that people can see you’re resting on Christ’s work for you, not your own perfection. This is when you glorify Christ the most. Rather than being a source of fear, your sin reveals that God is a truth-teller, for He said that you are a sinner. He said that your sin deserves judgment. He said that you need grace. He said that He’s given it. - See more at: http://str.typepad.com/weblog/2013/11/free-to-say-weve-sinned.html#sthash.Nxm1YkaS.dpuf

4 Questions to Ask Your Money - Tim Challies (Grace Fellowship Church): "Someone once drew my attention to four questions to ask when I am about to make a purchase—any purchase. Looking back, I can see how much better I am at managing money when I keep questions like these in mind (which, I believe, were first posed by John Wesley)."

5 Months Old - The Sandowichs (Grace Brethren): In the "time flies when you're having fun [or live a long ways apart]" category - guess who's five months old?!
