Preparing for Sunday, 3/30/14

by Josh Starkey on March 28, 2014

We'll be studying Joshua 9 together this Sunday, with a sermon entitled "Deception Exposed." It would benefit us all to read and meditate on the chapter ahead of time, to prepare our hearts for the preaching on Sunday morning.

Because Good Friday is coming in just a few weeks, and we do a longer communion service that night, we won't be having our normal last-Sunday-of-the-month communion in the gathering. All that to also say, be planning ahead for 6:30 PM on 4/18, for our Good Friday service. This is an important, and glorious time to gather and worship our Savior in light of his work on the cross for us.

This Sunday we'll be leading our singing with an acoustic set, with special arrangements of some of our familiar songs, and a couple new ones. Here's the song set:

1. How Deep The Father's Love For Us

2. Mediator (NEW SONG, included below for your listening pleasure! This one is basically an unpacking of 1 Timothy 2:5-6 set to music, and will be a great song for us to remind ourselves of the Gospel in all of its power and clarity, that there is only "one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Jesus Christ." Here's a blog post where the writer, Cam Huxford, talks about the songwriting process).

3. There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood

4. Your Love So High (NEW SONG that we introduced last week, also included below, as a refresher)

5. Medley of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," and "Leaning On The Everlasting Arms"

Give the songs a listen, especially the new ones, so we can be ready to lift voices together on Sunday morning. Hope we'll see you in the gathering!
