Preparing for Christmas Worship, 12/20/15

by Josh Starkey on December 19, 2015

Tomorrow is our last Sunday before our Christmas Eve service. Jordan will continue our "Redeeming Relationships" series, preaching mostly from Romans 6:1-14, on redeeming life from dead desires.  We'll also continue Christmas worship by singing carols together.

As we prepare our hearts for another Sunday of Christmas worship, here's a thought from Mason King, a pastor at The Village Church in Ft. Worth, Texas.

"And so the Lord speaks to you and to me, saying, 'Be not afraid, it is I.' Light has exposed the darkness of our own hearts and has overcome it by the cross...

"As we approach the day on which we remember His birth, we enter into a starlit night where the still air fell like velvet on the shoulders of shepherds. Stars burned with the brightness of childlike wonder. This night, the Hope of all the ages drew His first breath. A young mother gazed at her child’s face. In her heart and in her hands she held the weight of the boy who had come to set His people free" (Mason King, published at For The Church).

Let's long together for Christ's second coming, and rejoice in our longing and hope deferred, because we know our Hope and Rescuer has come, and has saved us by His cross.

Tomorrow we'll sing the following songs:

1. Joy to the World (Unspeakable Joy)

2. O Holy Night

3. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

4. Who Would Have Dreamed
