Sunday Recap 5/1/16

by Josh Starkey on May 02, 2016

Happy Monday!

Not sure if you noticed, but in spite of a lot of ladies gone on Women's Retreat yesterday, we had pretty full gatherings! Props and kudos to all the dads who got the family to church while mom was away.

It was a great morning of worship together. Jordan preached on Luke 12:29-48, a sermon entitled "COMING AHEAD: Buckle Up and Get Ready." You can listen or read here. After listening, consider the following application questions:

  1. If Jesus truly could return anytime, what would that practically mean for us daily? How would life be different if we lived in light of that truth?
  2. How do we train our minds to be faithful while we wait for Jesus' return? What would it look like to live like the unfaithful servant, especially those who claim to know Christ?

Yesterday we sang the following songs together:

  1. "The Power of the Cross" (Stuart Townend)
  2. "Be Thou My Vision" (8th century, trans. Eleanor Hull, chorus by Ascend the Hill)
  3. "The Wonderful Cross" (Isaac Watts, chorus by Chris Tomlin)
  4. "My Savior's Blood Ever Pleads" (Josh Starkey/Marshall Walter)
  5. "Amazing Grace" (John Newton)
