Sunday Recap: 10/29/17, Communion Sunday!

by Josh Starkey on October 30, 2017

Yesterday was a full morning - if you were there, you know what we mean! Communion,  Samaritan Center support month wrap-up, lots of singing...and Trunk-or-Treat Sunday night! It was a great day together. Pastor Jordan preached a part 2 to last week's message, on "Reformation Preparation" from Ezra chapter 7. Listen or read here if you missed anything, AND to keep up for next Sunday - Jordan will finish this section with two more key points on 11/5, before moving on from this passage!

And on the topic of Reformation, we talked yesterday about the glories of the Gospel preserved by the Protestant Reformation, and we sang a new arrangement to "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" that we'll be bringing in more often. Tomorrow is the actual 500th anniversary of Luther's 95 Theses, and the start of the Reformation. For some great reading on the Reformation this week, check out Desiring God's series of posts this month. Here's yesterday's, on Luther specifically. We've also got some "book-of-the-month" picks on our bookshelf that will be there through November, hitting some important facets of this great epoch in the history of the church. Check those books out here and pick up a couple! All are highly-recommended and we hope they'll be an encouragement to you.

Lastly, here's what we sang yesterday:

  1. Our Song from Age to Age (by Sovereign Grace Music)
  2. This is Amazing Grace (by Phil Wickham)
  3. Sola (by Zac Hicks)
  4. A Mighty Fortress is Our God (by Martin Luther, arrangement by Cedarville Band)
  5. There is a Fountain (by William Cowper, Enfield arrangement)
  6. Your Love on the Line (by Hillsong Worship)

Have a week full of the Gospel!
