Our Counseling Pastor and GBS Chaplain, Tim Howard, writes the following word on our new online bookstore:
"We're very excited about our new way of offering resources to our church family!
"With so many authors and books in the marketplace providing information and advice while claiming to be either "Christian" or "biblical," we recognize the responsibility in helping the church to develop a skill that is both discerning and wise when seeking wisdom and knowledge needed in today's world. Sadly, all books and resources found on the shelves of Christian book stores are not gospel-centered and truly Bible-based in philosophy, or world view.
"With that said, we know that all wisdom and knowledge involved in a saving and growing faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior comes only through the Scriptures (Romans 10:17; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:3-4). Our goal has always been and is to provide solid biblical resources for Grace Brethren Church members. Know that any book or other resource found listed on our online bookshelves has been read and reviewed by our elders, or pastoral staff for its biblical fidelity and helpfulness.
"If you have any recommendations, or questions concerning any of our resources listed, please feel free to contact any staff member."
As Tim mentions above, we've loved seeing the interaction with our new online bookstore thus far, and it's our prayer that it can be a hub for recommendations, first and foremost. If you're going to buy through Amazon anyway, however, try to click through our bookshelf link for the resource when you go to order. You'll still be on Amazon, using your Prime account or any other benefits that would affect your purchase; but using our shelves to link to resources drives a percentage of each purchase back into the ministry funds at our church. You still get to shop Amazon like you normally would, but they send a little bit back to Grace Church.
